John McCook Named Head Golf Pro at Oak Creek Golf Club
Players at Irvines Premiere, Tom Fazio Course Will Benefit From Pros Experience
IRVINE, Calif. (June 2017, 2002) - Oak Creek Golf Club, which features a Tom Fazio-designed
18-hole course in Irvine, has named John McCook as its new Head PGA Golf Professional.
McCook returns to Orange County, where he previously served as an assistant golf professional
at Oak Creeks sister course, Pelican Hill Golf Club on the Newport Coast.
John has an excellent history of managing golf operations at some of Southern Californias
most renowned courses, said Bobby Heath, director of golf. He is devoted to the game of
golf and is committed to providing the best possible golfing experience to our guests.
McCook brings to Oak Creek Golf Club a lifelong love of golf. Growing up in Oregon, he
learned to play the game at the age of eight and by the time he was eleven, he had constructed
his own three-hole course, complete with water hazards. At Medford High School, he was one of
the founding members of the golf team. McCook eventually decided to make his passion a career
and attended College of the Desert in Palm Desert, where he studied golf course management.
McCook has an impressive resume. He has served on the professional teams of such premier golf
destinations as Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley, Ocean Trails Golf Club in Rancho Palos
Verdes, Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa and Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert.
McCook will oversee all golf-related operations at the par-71 course, which measures 6,850 yards
from the back tees and features bent grass greens, Bermuda fairways, serpentine bunkers, ponds
and a meandering creek to provide a scenic and challenging golf experience for all players.
McCook will also supervise Oak Creek Golf Clubs nine PGA professionals and its state-of-the-art
practice and teaching center, which features 65 lighted Bermuda grass tee boxes for day and
evening use, two putting greens, a practice chipping green, and a large practice bunker. Available
instruction at the club includes individual and group lessons, clinics and schools, as well as
junior programs for young golfers.
In addition to the impressive golf course and practice and teaching center, Oak Creek Golf Club
boasts a 20,000-square-foot Hacienda Rancho-style clubhouse. The Oak Creek Players Club offers
its members cardholders exclusive privileges including discounted greens fees, advance tee time
booking and merchandise and range ball discounts.
Oak Creek Golf Club is owned and managed by The Irvine Company. For reservations and information
