Oak Creek Golf Club Announces Additions to Group Event Team
Upscale Club in Irvine Plans to Grow Event Business
IRVINE, Calif. - Oak Creek Golf Club, which features a Tom Fazio-designed golf course in
Irvine, has named Duncan Simms as its new group event coordinator and Danny White as the
coordinator of small group events. Simms and White will work closely with Sales Manager
Margaret Willmoth Jensen who oversees group sales at both Oak Creek and its sister course,
Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast.
Simms moves into his new position after spending the last year as one of Oak Creek’s assistant
golf professionals.
“Duncan’s steadfast commitment to both Oak Creek Golf Club and our guests is evident in the
quality of his work and his professional demeanor,” said John McCook, head golf professional
for Oak Creek Golf Club. “We know that Duncan possesses all of the skills for our event business
to continue to grow.”
Since graduating from the San Diego Golf Academy in 1999, Simms, a native of Montreal, Canada,
has amassed a great deal of knowledge in the operations of high-end daily fee golf courses. He
spent three years as an assistant golf professional at Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley,
serving on the staff that opened that facility.
In his new position as group event coordinator, Simms will be responsible for all tournament
bookings, fundraisers, corporate and social events. He also acts as a liaison between the golf
club and the Hyatt Regency Irvine, which handles all of the catering.

Oak Creek has also announced that Assistant Golf Professional Danny White, a three-year veteran
of the club, will work with Simms in organizing small group events—outings with 13 to 36 participants.
“Danny White has been a valuable member of the Oak Creek staff for more than three years and
knows the attributes of the club as well as anyone,” said McCook. “Our guests very much enjoy
working with Danny, making him a great addition to our events team.”
Jensen, who came to Oak Creek and Pelican Hill in 2002, has an impressive resume in the hospitality
industry. She previously served as sales manager for the western region for The Leading Hotels of
the World which provides global distribution, reservations and luxury marketing support for the
world’s finest five-star hotels.
Jensen, a native of Northamptonshire, England, was also the manager of event marketing and promotions
for Hilton Hotels Corporation. There she developed promotional marketing campaigns in partnership
with the PGA, LPGA and Senior PGA tours; U.S. Olympic Team; USA Gymnastics, and selected NBA and
NHL franchises.
